Editorial policy

People come here under real pressure — a rent increase, a notice, a move they did not choose. Getting a fact wrong here costs someone a phone call they could not afford to waste. These are the rules we hold ourselves to.

Where our data comes from

Every listing on this site is derived from data published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development:

Both come from HUD's open data . Program rules and income figures come from hud.gov and HUD User. We do not use scraped listing sites, aggregators, or lead brokers as sources.

Counts are computed, never typed

Every number on the site — properties in a city, subsidized units, housing authorities in a state — is calculated from the records at build time. Nobody types a total into a page, so a page cannot drift out of step with the data behind it.

Things we refuse to publish

How we handle money figures

Income limits and payment standards are set locally and revised on HUD's schedule, usually each spring. Guides that carry those figures show the fiscal year, cite the HUD source, and carry a visible "Last reviewed" date. We re-verify them against HUD when the new figures publish, and we point you at your own county's number rather than implying one national figure applies to you.

Corrections

A report that something is wrong outranks every other kind of work. When we get one, we re-check the claim against HUD's live records before touching the page. If a guide's facts change, its "Last reviewed" date and structured data change with it — we do not bump dates to look fresh without a real change.

Use the form at the bottom of any page, or see contact.

Independence

No housing authority, property, or management company can pay to be listed, ranked higher, described differently, or removed. If we run advertising in future it will be labeled as advertising and kept visually separate from listings. Nothing on this site is a paid placement.

Who writes and reviews

Pages are written and maintained by the AcceptsSection8 editorial team against HUD's published records and program rules. We are not attorneys or housing counselors, and nothing here is legal advice. For advice about your own situation, talk to a HUD-approved housing counselor — that service is free.

Limits worth stating plainly

HUD's files lag reality. Properties change hands, offices move, and phone numbers get reassigned. When our data and the real world disagree, the real world is right — call the number, and tell us what you found.
